Three technologies can work

Can capture PFAS using specialty resin; cartridge capacity and certified claims matter.
Broad contaminant reduction and strong PFAS potential, with higher cost and wastewater.
Look for NSF/ANSI 53 or 58 for PFAS reduction
EPA recommends checking for certification to NSF/ANSI 53 or NSF/ANSI 58 specifically for PFAS reduction, and then confirming the product directory or performance sheet for the exact claim. A generic NSF badge is not enough.
When to choose carbon vs RO
If your utility reports only modest PFAS contamination and you can find a certified carbon or ion-exchange filter with acceptable capacity, that may be the simpler solution. If you also want broad dissolved-contaminant reduction, RO is usually the stronger fit.
