A four-bathroom home with very hard water often lands in the 48K–64K-class range, but the correct choice comes from daily hardness load and peak service flow—not bathroom count alone.
48K can work when household size and hardness load are moderate. 64K becomes more attractive as hardness rises above roughly 20–25 gpg, water use is high, or the household needs more regeneration and flow margin.
Multiply daily gallons by measured hardness in grains per gallon. A family using 300 gallons per day at 25 gpg creates about 7,500 grains of hardness load every day. That can push a smaller unit into frequent regeneration.
A larger resin bed provides more usable capacity and often more service-flow margin. That matters in a four-bathroom house where showers, laundry and faucets may overlap.
