A whole-house filter has to treat water while showers, faucets, appliances and toilets may be running at the same time. If the media bed is too restrictive, pressure drops. If water moves too quickly through an undersized bed, treatment contact time can fall. That is why “more GPM” is not automatically better and “more carbon” is not automatically enough.
