For moderately acidic well water, calcite or blended neutralizing media are common. For more aggressive acidity or higher flow, chemical feed may be more appropriate. Test pH, alkalinity and hardness first.
Neutralizing media
Calcite dissolves into acidic water and raises pH while also adding hardness. That can mean a softener is needed downstream.
Soda-ash injection
Chemical feed can provide more controllable pH correction for stronger acidity or high-demand systems, but requires a solution tank and feed pump.
Corrosion clues
Blue-green stains, pinhole leaks and metallic taste can be consistent with corrosive water, but testing is needed before treatment.
Treatment order
Neutralization generally belongs upstream of equipment that benefits from corrected pH, with softening added later if hardness increases.
